its been a dizzying 38 years of Technology for me. It all started when I first laid eyes on the Timex Sinclair ZX81
There was a cassette deck required to load the os. Then the cassette deck was used to load BASIC, or, Stick Figure Flight Simulator. Looking back now, it felt sort of like the first time I tried real virtual reality in Virginia Beach, VA. (1993) The game was. Dactyl Nightmare.

Those were the early years,
and before I got my first 386SX computer ( 1991 )

I was working on a System V Release 4 — SVR4 — UNIX system at the University of New Hampshire’s Durham campus. SVR4 sits in the historic UNIX lineage pioneered by figures such as Ken Thompson, with whom I once had a brief and memorable email exchange. He was gracious enough to reply —
possibly because I opened by greeting both him and his wife, Bonnie. I guess even UNIX legends have a soft side.
So, First Came Unix, then DOS in my case, before windows. and now, I’m macOS 26.4.1. What a long… strange trip it is. and now, with Ai? Its Wonder and Awe all over again.
